Made slowly, by hand, with intention
I am a visual artist and ceramic maker based in Slovenia, working under the name Eva Prepeva.
Clay has been part of my life since childhood, but it became my true medium during and after my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, where I graduated in 2015.
After returning to Maribor, I began shaping a practice that felt closer to me — quieter, more tactile, and more grounded. Working with clay allows me to combine my background in fine art with a slower, more intimate way of making.
Today, I create small‑batch ceramic objects and jewelry, each one shaped, finished, and glazed by hand.
Clay as a conversation
Clay is a material that demands patience and attention. It moves slowly, changes constantly, and does not allow shortcuts. That is exactly why I work with it.
My process is largely freehand and intuitive. I am drawn to organic forms, subtle irregularities, and surfaces that carry traces of touch. No two pieces are ever the same — each object develops its own character through shaping, drying, firing, and glazing.
Many pieces go through several stages of experimentation, and not all of them survive the process. Failure and discovery are part of the work, and they shape every finished object as much as intention does.
Attention to details
My style is organic, sometimes slightly rustic, often playful, and always influenced by nature and texture.
I pay special attention to details — the curve of a handle, the balance of a form, a small drawing or decorative element that gives the piece its final accent. For me, a ceramic object should feel complete as a whole: visually harmonious, pleasant to hold, and made for everyday use.
I often go one step further than shape and glaze, adding subtle illustrative or ornamental details that come from my love of drawing and visual storytelling.
I believe that objects we use daily should carry meaning. Drinking coffee from a handmade cup, or wearing a small ceramic piece, can turn an ordinary moment into something more present and intentional.
Mindful choices
I believe that surrounding ourselves with thoughtfully made objects changes how we relate to our space and to everyday rituals. Handmade work is not about perfection — it is about care, responsibility, and connection between maker and user.
When you choose a handmade piece, you are not only buying an object. You are supporting time, skill, and a way of working that values slowness over mass production. My hope is that my work brings a sense of warmth, presence, and quiet joy into your daily life.
